Williams Named NABC District Coach of the Year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Anderson University Men's Basketball head coach Jimmie Williams has been named the District Coach of the Year for the southeast region as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Monday.
Williams guided the Black and Gold to a historical season after going undefeated for 15-straight games to record the best start in program history. Under Coach Williams, the Trojans captured the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship and Tournament Title for the first time in AU program history, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's basketball Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Southeast region. The team maintained national rankings within the top 10 throughout the season for the programs first top 10 appearance in school history.
Williams played a pivotal role in developing talent across the roster, notching four major SAC postseason awards including Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the year, Coach of the Year and Tournament MVP while also tallying 12 other postseason honors for the Trojans.
With commitment and dedication on both ends of the floor, Williams guided the Trojans to a historical, record-breaking season while building the program on a foundation of character, connection, and being compelled to serve something greater than oneself.
