INDIANAPOLIS – Queens and Carson-Newman have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship south/southeast regional, it was announced on Friday evening.
Carson-Newman earned the SAC's automatic qualification bid after winning the SAC Championship, while Queens received an at-large selection. Additionally, Wingate's Benedict Gebhardt received one of the regional's four individual selections.
The regional will take place May 5-7 at Savannah Quarters in Savannah, Ga. The national championship will then be May 19-23 in Allendale, Mich.
Queens will be seeded sixth in the southeast region. The Royals finished in the top 10 at every event this season, including a team title at last month's Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate.
Carson-Newman, in addition to winning the SAC title, had four more top-10 finishes in 2013-14. The Eagles – seeded 10th in the regional - won the SAC tournament by a single stroke over Wingate.
Gebhardt, meanwhile, won the individual medals at the SAC Championship, the Richard Rendleman Invitational and the Hargett Memorial. He has a stroke average of 73.1.
