Wingate Captures 2026 SAC Men's Golf Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate claimed the 2026 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship title in dominant fashion, defeating Lincoln Memorial, 5-0, in the medal match play finals on Tuesday at The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Bulldogs swept all five matches to secure the conference crown, turning in an impressive performance across the lineup.
Mattia D'Errico set the tone with a 2UP victory over SAC medalist Harry Dickins, while Lewis Beeden delivered the most decisive result of the day with an 11UP win against Wyatt Cochran.
Brandon Skidmore added a 6UP victory over Edward Mason, and Cole Rouse followed with a 4UP win against Ryan Gavin. Alfie Storer capped the sweep with an 8UP triumph over Morgan Cain to complete the 5-0 result.
Wingate's dominant showing in match play comes after also leading the field following stroke play, continuing a strong week from start to finish en route to the SAC Championship.
Lincoln Memorial, which finished second in stroke play and earned its spot in the final with a semifinal win over Catawba, closes the championship as the runner-up.
With the victory, Wingate earns the SAC's automatic bid to the NCAA postseason, completing a wire-to-wire championship performance.
