Wingate Advances to the NCAA National Championship for Third Straight Year
VALDOSTA, GA. -- For the third consecutive season, the Wingate Bulldogs men's golf team is heading to the Division II National Championships and are also looking for at hird straight trip to match play. The Bulldogs grabbed the seventh and final spot after the conculsion of the South/Southeast Regional today.
Wingate shot an even par to finish seventh, one shot in front of Barry, to earn the final spot in the National Championships as the top seven teams advanced. The balanced effort saw each of the five Wingate golfers shoot between a 71 and 73 on the day, led by Brandon Skidmore's 71.
Lincoln Memorial finished 11th with a tournament score of +7 while Catawba slotted in at 17th with a team mar of +24.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Matthew McDougall fired a -2 in his final round to finish in a seventh-place tie as he competed as an individual.
