Lincoln Memorial's Reid Named SAC Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial's Gavin Reid has been named the 2025-26 South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced today. The award recognizes excellence in academics, athletics, leadership and community service.
A senior attackman from Harrogate, Tennessee, Reid graduated with a 3.933 GPA while majoring in sport management. He earned Dean's List honors every semester and was a recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, CSC Academic All-District honors, and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition. Reid was also named a SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year finalist during the 2024-25 academic year.
On the field, Reid capped off an outstanding career with one of the top offensive seasons in program history. During his senior campaign, he led the Railsplitters with 56 points on 43 goals and 13 assists while adding 35 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. He finished fourth in the SAC in goals scored and became just the fourth player in LMU history to reach 100 career goals and the seventh to eclipse 100 career points.
Over his four-year career, Reid totaled 151 points on 118 goals and 33 assists while appearing in 61 games for the Railsplitters. He earned recognition throughout his career for both his leadership and performance, serving as a team captain while helping guide LMU both on and off the field.
In addition to his success academically and athletically, Reid was heavily involved in campus leadership and community service initiatives. He served as Lincoln Memorial's SAAC representative for men's lacrosse, participated in the LMU theater club, interned with the Tennessee Golf Association and PGA of Tennessee, and volunteered with numerous community outreach efforts, including Bowl for Autism, ROHO Christmas Shopping, campus cleanups, and the Little Hercules Foundation fundraiser.
"Gavin has shown high academic aptitude and ambition above and beyond his peers," LMU head coach Joe Wilson said in his nomination letter. "His character is unmatched. I have no doubt that if selected for this opportunity, you will be satisfied with your choice."
