Catawba’s Troy Brown named Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College junior midfielder Troy Brown (Burlington, N.C./Williams HS) is this week's South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Brown scored three goals last week to help Catawba win two matches. The Catawba Indians extended their current winning streak to six with the two victories. Brown had two goals in a key 4-2 league win at Wingate Wednesday night. He scored in the final two minutes of the first half to tie the match at 2-2 and added an insurance goal with 30 seconds left.
Brown set the tone for the W.Va. Wesleyan match with his goal
only 31 seconds into the home contest. The hosts prevailed by a 4-2
margin Saturday afternoon. On the season, Brown has four goals and
two assists.
Catawba (8-2 overall, 2-0 in the SAC) visits Lenoir-Rhyne College Wednesday for a 4 p.m. SAC contest. The Catawba Indians host Carson-Newman College Saturday for a 7 p.m. league encounter.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
