Lenoir-Rhyne’s Adrian Blewitt Named Region Coach of the Year
Mission, Kan. - Lenoir-Rhyne College's Adrian Blewitt was named the 2006 NSCAA/adidas Men's Soccer NCAA Division II Appalachian Region Coach Of The Year.
Blewitt, in his second year as Bear mentor, led L-R to its best season in school history in 2006.
Lenoir-Rhyne finished with a 19-1-1 record and a No. 5 final national ranking in NCAA Division II.
The Bears also won the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference
Tournament for the third time in school history and advanced to the
NCAA Division II Regional Finals.
Blewitt, who was named the 2006 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Coach Of The Year in October, has a 32-8-3 record at Lenoir-Rhyne and a 110-79-5 mark as a collegiate coach.
Blewitt graduated from Lock Haven University in 1994 and his past two coaching stops were at Lees-McRae College (2002-04) and Methodist University (1997-01).
Blewitt is now one of eight finalists for national coach of the year.
Last week, Blewitt was named Lenoir-Rhyne's Director of Soccer and will now oversee both the men's and the women's programs.
