Newberry’s Debola Ogunseye Named Men’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Newberry College men's soccer forward Debola Ogunseye (Lagos, Nigeria) has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's soccer player of the week, the league announced today.
Last week, the 5-6 senior tallied nine points in two conference
matches against Catawba College and Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Ogunseye's hat trick and one assist against Catawba helped NC to a
4-0 win over the Catawaba Indians and his game-winning goal against
Lenoir-Rhyne University lifted NC to a 2-1 win to run the table in
the week's play with a 2-0 record.
Newberry now has a chance to complete the regular season with it's best South Atlantic Conference finish in the history of the program. The NC men are now 5-8-1 on the year and 5-1-1 in conference play with a non-conference road match this week against Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Newberry's match against PU will get underway at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
