Tusculum’s Bruno Conceicao Named Men’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Senior forward Bruno Conceicão of the seventh-ranked Tusculum College men's soccer team has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. He wins the award for the third time this season.
A native of Valenca, Bahia, Conceicão led the Pioneers to
their second consecutive SAC championship with a five-point
performance against Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, recording his seventh
multi-goal match of the campaign to propel TC to a come-from-behind
4-2 victory. The 5-10, 160-pound forward put the black and orange
back on terms with his 19th goal of the season in the 66th minute,
and reached the 20-goal plateau for the second straight season with
his match-winner in the 83rd minute of the contest.
With his five points on Saturday, Conceicão now leads the SAC with 20 goals and 48 points, and also ranks third in the league with eight assists through 19 matches. He also leads the conference with six match-winners, and is ranked among the top 10 scorers in NCAA Division II in goals and points.
Tusculum enters this week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed, hosting eighth-seeded Catawba College on Wednesday in a quarterfinal match. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
