Tusculum’s Lance Moore Named MVP Of Food Lion SAC Men’s Soccer Tournament
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Tusculum College junior goalkeeper Lance Moore, who gave up just one goal in three matches, was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference men's soccer tournament.
Moore helped lead the Pioneers to a 1-0 shutout over Wingate in the championship match. In the process, he established a school record with his 11th shutout of the season.
Joining Moore on the All-Tournament team from Tusculum are senior forward Bruno Conceicão, the SAC men's soccer Player of the Year; junior defender Phillip Hagen and junior midfielder Scott Lucky. Conceicão had two goals in the tournament, while Lucky recorded the assist on the lone goal in the championship.
Wingate University placed three on the All-Tournament Team: sophomore midfielder Luke Mulholland, freshman midfielder Tom Poole, and sophomore goalkeeper Joey Calandra.
Tournament semifinalists Lenoir-Rhyne University and Lincoln Memorial University each placed two on the All-Tournament Team.
Earning the recognition from LMU are junior defender Felipe Nogueira and sophomore midfielder Aaron McKenna.
Lenoir-Rhyne's honorees are junior midfielder Aaron Wheeler, who had two goals in two games, and senior defender Shawn Brunk.
