Seven Men’s Soccer Players Earn Daktronics All-American Honors
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Seven men's soccer players from the South Atlantic Conference, including five from conference champion Tusculum College, earned Daktronics Division II Men's Soccer All-America selections on Tuesday, including first team honoree and Southeast Region Player of the Year Bruno Conceicão. Sophomore Anteneh Lemma was selected to the second team, while Lance Moore, Scott Lucky, and Sven Meyer were honorable mention selections.
Conceicão led the Pioneers to their second consecutive South Atlantic Conference championship this season, and became the second player in program history to be named SAC Player of the Year. The black and orange advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history, falling to the University of Tampa on Nov. 23 by a score of 3-2 in extra time. The senior forward recorded a national-best 60 points this season, and finished the year tied for second in NCAA II with 24 goals.

Second team honoree Lemma posted career highs in goals (14), assists (10), points (38), and match-winning goals (4) en route to a First Team All-SAC selection, as well as a spot on the Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team. The 5-7, 145-pound midfielder was one of four Pioneers to notch 10 or more assists this season.
Moore rewrote much of the TC men's soccer record book this season, setting new program marks in single-season shutouts (12), career shutouts (18), career goals against average (1.27), and career save percentage (.770). The 6-2, 185-pound goalkeeper was named to the All-SAC Second Team as one of seven Pioneers on the all-conference teams. A native of Morristown, Tenn., Moore posted two shutouts in the Food Lion SAC Tournament this season to lead the Pioneers to the third conference tournament title in the program's history, as the junior netminder earned tournament MVP honors.
Lucky has emerged as one of the premier field generals in the midfield for the Pioneers this season, posting a team-high 13 assists to earn an All-SAC Second Team selection. The junior halfback finished the campaign with the fourth-highest goal total on the team, finding the back of the net four times over the course of the season. A native of Orangevale, Calif., Lucky was named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team, as well as the SAC Tournament Team this season, having concluded the campaign as the conference leader in assists.
Meyer received Daktronics All-America honors for the first time in his career, as the sophomore defender played an integral role on a Pioneer back line which held opponents to 1.02 goals per match this season. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Meyer also garnered All-SAC First Team and Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team honors this season. The 5-11, 165-pound fullback started 24 matches for the black and orange this fall, as the Pioneers set a school record with the program's first 20-win season.
This marks the first time a member of the Tusculum men's soccer program has received Daktronics All-America honors. The record-setting 2008 Pioneers return nine of their starters for next season, as well as eight of their top 10 scorers.
Also receiving honorable mention honors were defender Thomas Ostvold from Carson-Newman College and defender Felipe Nogueira from Lincoln Memorial University.
A 6-0 junior and three-year starter, Nogueira (Uberaba, Brazil), a 2007 First Team All-American led the Railsplitters to a 11-7-2 season finish this year on the heels of last season's national championship appearance.
From his defensive position, Nogueira scored four goals for a total of eight points to finish fourth on the team in scoring this year. His defensive efforts also helped him earn First Team All South Atlantic Conference and First Team All-Southeast Region honors following the 2008 season.
