Mars Hill’s Scott, Wingate’s Forza Selected as SAC Soccer Players of the Week
As the 2012 SAC soccer regular season reaches its final week, Mars Hill keeper Zac Scott and Wingate forward Shelby Forza have been picked as the conference’s Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – As the 2012 SAC soccer regular season reaches its final week, Mars Hill keeper Zac Scott and Wingate forward Shelby Forza have been picked as the conference's Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Scott recorded two shutouts in the net last week, boosting his SAC-leading season total to six.
On Tuesday versus UNC Pembroke, Scott stopped six shots as Mars Hill and UNC Pembroke battled to a 0-0 draw.
Scott then saved four more shots in a 2-0 road win at Wingate on Saturday, helping Mars Hill clinch its first outright regular-season SAC title in program history.
The senior currently leads the SAC and ranks second in Division II with a save percentage of 87.3-percent.

Forza led Wingate to a perfect 3-0 week by totaling four goals and three assists, helping push the Bulldogs' winning streak to nine-straight matches.
She opened the week by scoring the game-winning goal in WU's 2-0 non-conference win at Belmont Abbey. The senior then scored two more goals – including the game winner – and added an assist on Wednesday against UNC Pembroke.
Forza closed her week by tallying a goal and two assists in Wingate's 5-0 win over Mars Hill, which kept the Bulldogs just one win behind Lenoir-Rhyne in the conference standings.
