The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Soccer Co-Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Egdar Cervantes and Newberry's Brad Dixon have been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Players of the Week for the 2017 season following games played Oct. 16 - 22, the League announced today.
Cervantes, a freshman from Cancun, Mexico, tallied three goals last week for the Pioneers as the picked up a win and a draw. He recorded a goal and an assist in a two-two draw against Carson-Newman on October 18. He later followed that performance with two goals including the game winner and a shooting percentage of .667 in a 3-1 victory at Catawba on October 21. The award is his first Player of the Week honor this season.
Dixon, a junior form Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, recorded 28 saves in 212 minutes in goal for the Wolves. In a two-two draw against Lees-McRae on October 18, Dixon made 19 saves on 21 shots giving up two goals. Later in the week he posted a save percentage of .818 as Newberry picked up a 3-2 victory at Mars Hill on October 21. Dixon ranks fourth in the nation in saves per game and leads the SAC in saves with 80. The award is his second Player of the Week honor this season.
