The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the seventh week of the 2021 season.  Carson-Newman midfielder Thaylan Silva was named the offensive player of the week, while Coker defender Bastiaan Jager was named defensive player of the week. 

Silva, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, led the Eagles to a pair of SAC victories last week over Lincoln Memorial (4-0) and Newberry (3-1). He scored two goals in each game, including the eventual game-winner against Lincoln Memorial. For the week he had four goals for eight points.

Jager, a freshman from Groningen, Netherlands, anchored the Coker defense that picked up two huge SAC wins last week, as the Cobras defeated Wingate (3-2) and No. 9 Limestone (3-2). In addition to helping keep opponents off the scoreboard, Jager found the back of the net for the game-winning goal in Coker's win over No. 9 Limestone. He finished the week with a goal and two points.
