The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the eighth week of the 2021 season. Carson-Newman midfielder Thaylan Silva was named the offensive player of the week, while Limestone goalkeeper Johann Hipper was named defensive player of the week.
Silva, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, led the Eagles to a 3-1 win over regionally ranked No. 5 Coker. He scored two goals, including the game-winner in the win earning four points for the week.
Hipper, a sophomore from Munich, Germany, earned his seventh clean sheet of the season in the No. 11 Saints' 0-0 double overtime draw against Queens. He also made a season-high eight saves in the match.
