The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the eighth week of the 2022 season. Tusculum forward Luis De La Fuente was named the offensive player of the week, while Coker defender Gustavo Palmieri was named defensive player of the week.

De La Fuente, a senior from Arriondas, Spain, scored four goals over two matches last week to lead the Pioneers to a 1-0-1 record. He scored a hat trick in their 8-0 win over Emory & Henry and then scored the Pioneers' lone goal in their 1-1 draw with Newberry. He finished the week with eight points. 

Palmieri, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, led Coker to a 1-0-1 record last week with a 3-1 win over Lenoir-Rhyne and a 1-1 draw with Limestone. He contributed to all three of the Cobras' goals versus Lenoir-Rhyne, scoring the game-winner and assisting on the other two goals. He then anchored a Coker backline that surrendered just one goal in 90 minutes of action against Limestone. For the week he had four points.
