ROCK HILL, S.C. (theSAC.com) -- In a match that was scoreless for over 81 minutes, the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters struck for two goals to claim the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament title. Ronan O'Mahony scored in the 82nd minute and Gian-Carlo Kama found the back of the net just over four minutes later to seal the win and send the third-seeded Railsplitters past the No. 4 seed Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. This was the first SAC Tournament Title for LMU since 2007.
With the victory, the Railsplitters secure the automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament.
Each team pulled an upset to get to the finals with LR taking down top-seeded Anderson in penalty kicks and LMU besting No. 2 seed Emory & Henry. The two teams were even through 80 minutes of play before tournament MVP O'Mahony took a ball from Antonio Talavera and deposited it past the LR keeper for the game winner.
Just 4:09 later, Kama was the recipient of a ball from O'Mahony and Talavera which left him alone with only the goalie to beat. He sent it past Tomas Fontes to secure the title for LMU.
For the match, Lenoir-Rhyne had a 16-11 advantage in shots but LMU had a slight 4-3 edge in shots on goal. LR had the advantage in corner kicks, 5-3.
The rest of the NCAA Tournament field will be announced tomorrow night on NCAA.com.
