SAC Swimmers Stand Out at Day Two of NCAA Championships
Wingate Women's 200 Medley Relay, Dehaudt earn first team NCAA AA honors Wednesday
Evansville, Ind.----The Wingate University women's 200 Medley Relay quartet and sophomore Fernando Dehaudt earned first team All-American honors at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving national championships Wednesday night. This year's event is being contested inside the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana.
The Wingate women's 200 Medley Relay quartet finished fifth with a new school-record time of 1:39.39. Team members include senior team captains Nina Azirovic and Natalia Dwojak, junior Vera Karlsson and freshman Mathilda Sandberg. Azirovic swam a blazing 22.88 50 Freestyle to finish the race for the Bulldogs.
Dehaudt finished sixth in the men's 1000 Freestyle with his time of 9:01.75. He earned first team All-American honors in the event after claiming honorable mention AA laurels as a freshman. Bulldog newcomer Emil Heigre received honorable mention All-American honors in the same race, finishing 13th with his time of 9:06.85.
Three from Catawba Men's Swimming earns All-America in Day Two of NCAA Championships
Evansville, Ind. — The Catawba College men's swimming team saw three of its student-athletes earn All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Swimming National Championships on Tuesday.
Corcoran Earns Honorable Mention All-American Honors in 200 IM at NCAA Championships
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Sophomore Megan Corcoran posted a strong showing for the Carson-Newman Eagles Wednesday at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200-yard individual medley at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Corcoran began the day in the morning preliminary heats, finishing 14th overall with a time of 2:03.90 to secure a spot in the consolation final. The sophomore opened with a 26.45 butterfly split, followed by a 30.42 backstroke leg to reach the halfway mark in 56.87. She then recorded a 37.85 breaststroke split before closing with a 29.18 freestyle leg to touch in 2:03.90.
