Wingate Tandem Receives SAC Tennis Weekly Honors
Wingate sophomore Sebastian Hall and freshman Layla Tanik have been voted as the SAC Tennis Players of the Week after strong showings against nationally-ranked Francis Marion on Sunday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate sophomore Sebastian Hall and freshman Layla Tanik have been voted as the SAC Tennis Players of the Week after strong showings against nationally-ranked Francis Marion on Sunday.
SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week | Sebastian Hall, Wingate
Hall won both of his matches on Sunday against No. 17 Francis Marion, defeating Tim Ruepke 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles position, and teaming with Neal Towlson to earn an 8-6 No. 1 doubles win over FMU's Ruepke and Marius Wahlier.
On the season, Hall is 2-2 in singles matches and 1-3 overall in doubles play.
SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week | Layla Tanik, Wingate
Tanik went 2-0 individually on Sunday as Wingate earned an impressive non-conference victory over No. 12 Francis Marion, 6-3.
Tanik defeated Francis Marion's Kimberley Hunter 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match, and partnered with teammate Tiffany Williams in the No. 2 doubles contest to beat FMU's duo of Natalie Stirewalt and Samantha Kolliker, 8-6.
The freshman is now 3-2 in singles and 3-2 in doubles action this season.
