Final SAC Tennis Weekly Awards go to Wingate’s Pezzoli, Queens’ Rustscheff
Wingate freshman Flippo Pezzoli and Queens senior Christina Rustscheff have been selected as the final SAC Tennis Players of the Week for the 2014 season, it was announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate freshman Flippo Pezzoli and Queens senior Christina Rustscheff have been selected as the final SAC Tennis Players of the Week for the 2014 season, it was announced on Monday.
SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week | Flippo Pezzoli, Wingate
Pezzoli went unbeaten in singles and doubles play during Wingate's three matches last week. Playing at No. 3 singles, he earned wins over Tusculum's Jonas Winkelmann, Lenoir-Rhyne's Kilian Symalla and Mt. Olive's Henric Falkenberg.
In doubles action, Pezzoli teamed with partner Tyler Schofer in the No. 3 position to claim victories over Tusculum's Nicolas Planchard and Leon Seiz, Lenoir-Rhyne's John Christian Reid and Matthew Ledford, and Mt. Olive's Brahm Moolman and Stanley Roffe.
Pezzoli completed the regular season at 19-4 in singles and 15-8 in doubles.
SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week | Christina Rustcheff, Queens
The defending SAC Player of the Week led Queens to a 4-1 record by going a combined 9-1 individually.
Rustcheff won all five of her No. 1 singles matches in straight sets, and partnered with teammate Melissa Laing to go 4-1 in doubles contests.
