The South Atlantic Conference Announces 2022 Men's Tennis Annual Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSac.com) – Queens' Edoardo Bottino was voted the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, while Wingate's Florian Walcher was voted the Conference's Freshman of the Year.  In addition, Anderson's head coach Joey Eskridge was named the Coach of the Year, the SAC office announced today.

Bottino, a junior from Genoa, Italy, is one of the top-ranked players in the SAC this season, posting a 15-3 record at No. 1 singles, including going 11-0 in the SAC, and an 18-1 doubles record at No. 1 doubles. He is currently ranked No. 30 in singles play and No. 41 in doubles and has helped lead the Royals to a No. 21 national ranking as a team.  

Walcher, a freshman from Austria, posted a 12-3 record at No. 1 singles and a 10-6 at No. 2 doubles for the Bulldogs this season. He is currently ranked No. 58 in singles play and with his help Wingate is ranked No. 35 nationally as a team.  

Eskridge earns his first SAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year honor after leading the Trojans to a No. 24 national ranking. Under his leadership, the men posted a 15-5 overall record, going 10-2 in SAC play this season.

Joining Bottino and Walcher on the All-SAC first team singles squad were Mateo Bivol of Newberry, Rhodri Atkinson from Lenoir-Rhyne, Edoardo Cecere from Queens, and Carson-Newman's Marnix Van Dalen.

The All-SAC first team doubles honorees were Atkinson and Josh Lazenby of Lenoir-Rhyne, Edis Nokic and Matteo Gostoli of Wingate, and Bottino and Cecere of Queens.
