Queens and Wingate Earn Top Spot in 2021-22 SAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals and Wingate University Bulldogs have both been picked as the favorites to win the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship, according to the preseason coaches' poll released today.
Both teams received six first place votes and 127 points in the preseason poll.
Carson-Newman University earned the third spot with 107 points, while Limestone University placed fourth in the poll with 98 points and Lenoir-Rhyne University placed fifth with 90 points.
Catawba College came in at No. 6 with 86 points, followed by Tusculum University at No. 7 with 74 points, and Coker University and Anderson University in a tie for eighth with 57 points each.
Newberry College took the No. 10 spot with 45 points, while Mars Hill University earned the No. 11 spot with 29 points. Lincoln Memorial University rounded out the poll at No. 12 with 27 points.
In addition to the preseason poll, the SAC also released the Indoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch list. This list includes the top athletes from each school to keep an eye on during the 2021-22 indoor track & field season. The full list of athletes to watch is listed below by team.
The 2021-22 SAC Indoor Track & Field season gets underway this weekend and will continue until the 2022 SAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Feb. 26-27.
