Wingate Earns Top Spot in 2022-23 SAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Preseason Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Wingate Bulldogs have both been picked as the favorite to win the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship, according to the preseason coaches' poll released today.
The Bulldogs received eight first place votes and 129 points in the preseason poll.
Lenoir-Rhyne earned the second spot with 117 points, while Limestone placed third in the poll with four first place votes and 107 points, followed by Carson-Newman at No. 4 with 105 points and Catawba at No. 5 with 88 points.
Tusculum came in at No. 6 with 85 points, followed by Lincoln Memorial at No. 7 with 67 points, and Newberry in eighth with 55 points.
Coker took the No. 10 spot with 44 points, while Mars Hill earned the No. 11 spot with 38 points. Emory & Henry rounded out the poll at No. 12 with 21 points.
In addition to the preseason poll, the SAC also released the Indoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch list. This list includes the top athletes from each school to keep an eye on during the 2022-23 indoor track & field season. The full list of athletes to watch is listed below by team.
The 2022-23 SAC Indoor Track & Field season gets underway this weekend and will continue until the 2022 SAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Feb. 25-26.
