Seven Programs Represented as NCAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Qualifiers Announced
ROCK HILL, S.C. — The South Atlantic Conference will be well represented on the national stage as 20 student-athletes from seven member institutions have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for March 13–14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
SAC qualifiers will compete across a wide range of sprint, hurdle, distance and field events, highlighted by a strong distance contingent from Wingate University, which leads the conference with 10 athletes competing across individual distance races and the distance medley relay.
Wingate's national qualifiers include Matthew Brunnock (mile), Joaquin Campos (3000m), Mohamed Dahmouch (mile, 3000m), Samuel Gilson (5000m), David Holman (mile, 3000m, distance medley relay), Lars Laros (3000m, 5000m), Luca Poppe (3000m, 5000m, distance medley relay), Antonin Saint Peyre (3000m, 5000m), Klaus Scholz (800m, distance medley relay) and Deon Sumpter (distance medley relay).
Lenoir-Rhyne will send three athletes to the national championships. Sophomore Havyn Spain qualified in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash, while sophomore Antonyio Davis earned a berth in the 60-meter hurdles and junior Tobechukwu Nwokocha qualified in the long jump.
Catawba will send two sprinters to the national meet. Senior Victor Smith qualified in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash, while senior Miles Stephens will compete in the 200-meter dash.
Carson-Newman also produced two national qualifiers with sophomore Rylan Jordan qualifying in the 60-meter dash and junior Amine Kasmi earning a spot in the 200-meter dash.
The SAC will also be represented in the field events by Mars Hill's Jesse Shelton in the shot put, Newberry's Dwayne Weiters in the triple jump, and Tusculum's Lansford Cunningham in the long jump.
The NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships begin Friday, March 13, and conclude Saturday, March 14.
