The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Devon Moore was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Tusculum's Guillaume Devries was named AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested April 8 through April 14, the Conference office announced today.
Moore, a freshman from Baxley, Ga., posted the fastest time in NCAA Division II and won the 100-meter dash at the Tennessee Relays last week. He set a Carson-Newman program record of 10.12 seconds, while also posting a Division II automatic qualifying time. He now has the 12th fastest 100-meter time in NCAA history and is currently the fourth fastest runner in all NCAA Divisions.
Devries, a junior from Valenciennes, France, broke his own school record in the high jump last week at the Gamecock Invitational. He posted a leap of 2.08 meters earning second place honors and moved into the top-15 in Division II with the jump.
This is Moore's second Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, while this marks the first Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week accolade for Devries.
