The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– Anderson's Philip Quillen was named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Carson-Newman's Shane Connell was named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the sixth week of the outdoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.  

Quillen, a senior distance runner from Spartanburg, S.C., posted an NCAA Division II provisional time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase last week. He won the event at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a time of 9:04.69.

Connell, a freshman jumper from Manchester, England, won his fourth consecutive high jump event of the season last week, winning the high jump at the LR Bears Open with a leap of 2.00 meters.
