Queens Captures Seventh Consecutive Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship
ANDERSON, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Queens University of Charlotte men's outdoor track & field team captured the 2022 SAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday (May 6). The Royals posted a team score of 171 to bring home their seventh consecutive championship.
Following the Royals were the Wingate Bulldogs with 148.5 points and the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears came in third with 131 points. Carson-Newman placed fourth with 101.5 points, followed by Limestone with 92 points in fifth, and Catawba in sixth with 52 points.
Newberry placed seventh with 46 points, while Tusculum had 38 points in eighth. Rounding out the meet were Lincoln Memorial in ninth with 18 points, Anderson in 10th with 16 points, and Coker in 11th with 5 points.
Capturing individual awards were Carson-Newman's Makanakaishe Charamba who was named SAC Freshman of the Year and the Track Athlete of the Meet. Queens' Martin Knauer was named Field Athlete of the Meet. Queens' head coach Jake Krolick was named the SAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
Charamba won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.35, and he won the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.95.
Knauer placed first in the hammer with a toss of 52.56 meters, was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 52.21 meters, he was second in the shot put with a 17.63-meter toss, and he was fifth in the discus with a throw of 46.26 meters.
