The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week, Sept. 17

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill's Alex Griggs and Jessica Viscusi have been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week, respectively, the League announced today.

Griggs, a junior from Statesville, N.C., was the top South Atlantic Conference finisher at the highly competitive Furman Invitational over the weekend as he turned in a time of 25:24.40 on the 8K course.  He finished fourth among runners from the Southeast Region and was the fourth overall non-Division I runner.  The honor is his first Men's Runner of the Week nod this season.

Viscusi, a senior from Bryson City, N.C., was the top Southeast Region finisher at the Furman Invitational as she clocked in at 22:47.21 on the 6K course.  She was first-place among student-athletes from the South Atlantic Conference, to go along with a second-place finish against her fellow non-Division I runners.  The honor marks her first Women's Runner of the Week plaudit this season.

Also nominated for Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week: David Cooper (Tusculum) and Mike Hering (Wingate).

Also nominated for Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week: Samantha Vogt (Tusculum) and Alyssa Johnson (Wingate).
