Wingate's Mrochen Named South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets competed in during the second week of the 2021 season. Wingate's Bastian Mrochen was named the runner of the week. 

Mrochen, a sophomore from Liebenau, Germany,  edged Mount Olive's Cas Kopmels in a photo finish, taking the individual title in the 11th annual Bulldog Stampede on Saturday at the Wingate Cross Country Facility. Both runners posted an 8K time of 25:34.6 with Mrochen leaning at the right time for the gold medal. The host Bulldogs had five student-athletes finish in the top eight to take the team title for the second time in the last three Stampede events. Wingate finished the day with a total of 26 points.
