Mars Hill’s Abby DeBusk Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill College senior guard, Abby DeBusk, has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, covering games played from Dec. 11 through Jan. 1, it was announced today by the league office. DeBusk, a native of New Tazwell, Tenn., helped the Lady Lions to one win in two contests over the holidays.
DeBusk, a former Claiborne County High School product, joined the Mars Hill 1,000-point club after scoring 28 points in an 85-79 win over Limestone on Dec. 30. She tossed in 26 points in a losing effort as Mars Hill fell 88-87 to Ashland on Dec. 19.
Against Ashland, the senior connected on 10-of-15 field goals
and dished out four assists. In the win over Limestone, DeBusk
made 6-of-12 shots, including a pair of three pointers, and went
14-of-17 at the line. She pulled down nine rebounds and added an
assist and a pair of steals.
For the week, DeBusk averaged 27 points and six rebounds, while collecting five assists and two steals. She hit on nearly 60 percent (16-of-27) of her shot attempts and went 20-of-23 (87 percent) at the line.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
