Wingate’s Tanetra Barrett Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate University senior guard Tanetra Barrett (Marshville, N.C.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 17, the league office announced today. Barrett earns the honor for the fourth time this season and the ninth time for her career.
A graduate of Forest Hills High School, Barrett averaged 19.7
points per game as the Bulldogs won three league games last week.
She was very consistent, hitting 21 points and dishing out six
assists in a 74-63 road victory at Presbyterian Monday. Barrett
netted 17 points in a 85-77 road win at Mars Hill Wednesday. On
senior day Saturday, she topped the team charts for the second time
during the week with 21 points in a 72-59 home-court triumph over
Newberry.
For the week, she averaged 19.7 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game. She hit 50.0 percent of her field goals (15-of-30). On the season, Barrett leads the Bulldogs (and the SAC) with 18.1 points per game. In addition, she averages 6.1 rebounds per game and 4.0 assists per game.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the member schools.
