Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jami Safrit Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Jami Safrit has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by league officials today.
Safrit, a junior guard from Hickory, N.C., averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists as she led the Bears to SAC home wins over Wingate and No. 8 Tusculum.
In Wednesday's 84-75 win over Wingate, Safrit scored 12 points,
grabbed seven rebounds and had three assists and a steal without an
error.
In Saturday's 77-64 win over No. 8 Tusculum, Safrit led all scorers with 22 points to go along with five rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Lenoir-Rhyne is now 18-2 overall and in sole possession of first place in the South Atlantic Conference with an 8-1 record. The Bears are the top team in the initial NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll and are receiving votes in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Coaches' Poll.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is determined
by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
