Tusculum’s Jasmine Gunn Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Tusculum College's Jasmine Gunn has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending February 1, 2010.
Gunn, an All-American junior point guard from Nashville, Tenn. (Antioch HS), led the Pioneers to a 2-0 worksheet in South Atlantic Conference play last week, averaging 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, six rebounds, and four steals in TC's pivotal wins over Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne.
The 4-11 junior poured in a game-high 27 points on Wednesday night in Tusculum's 102-92 overtime win over Mars Hill, knocking down 9-of-17 attempts from the floor and going 9-for-13 from the charity stripe to post her eighth 20-point game of the season. Gunn also dished out 10 assists to notch her second double-double of the season.
She turned in another stellar performance on Monday against
Lenoir-Rhyne, pouring in a game-high 18 points while going a
perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Gunn also recorded a
game-high five steals while dishing out five assists and grabbing
seven rebounds to pace the Pioneers to their third straight win in
SAC play.
The two-time All-SAC First Team selection currently leads the conference in steals (3.3), while ranking third in assists (4.8) and fourth in scoring (17.7).
