Catawba’s Milica Ivanovic Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Milica Ivanovic has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 9, 2011.
Ivanovic, a senior guard from Belgrade, Serbia (Bethel College) helped keep Catawba undefeated in the league in two come-from-behind wins. Against Wingate, she shook off a cold first half and scored all 14 of her game-high 14 points in the final half as the Lady Indians rallied from an eight-point, second-half deficit. Two of her three-pointers came in the final five minutes, including the game clincher with 23 seconds to play.
At Anderson, Ivanovic scored a season-high 26 points and rallied
Catawba with a pair of late three-pointers, converted the final one
into a four-point play for a 69-67 edge with 1:31 left, She had 17
second-half points, including 12 in the final seven minutes as the
Lady Indians rallied from a 10-point deficit.
For the week, Ivanovic averaged 20 points and 6.5 rebounds a contest, while canning 10 three-pointers.
