Four SAC Women’s Basketball Players Earn All-Region Selections

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Lenoir-Rhyne forward Jazmine Charles was named the 2014 Daktronics Women's Basketball Southeast Region Player of the Year on Thursday, leading a group of four SAC players earning All-Region accolades.
Accompanying Charles on the All-Region First Team are Wingate forward Kayla Harris and Newberry forward Haylee Lepaio, while Wingate guard Janitsha Williams was voted to the Second Team.
Charles led Lenoir-Rhyne to a share of the SAC regular-season title at the top seed in this weekend's NCAA Championship southeast regional by averaging 17.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Charles was also selected as the SAC Player of the Year earlier this month.
Lepaio is currently the SAC's leading scorer at 18.9 points per game and its second-leading rebounder at 10.8 per contest. Newberry finished its season with 15-12 overall and 11-11 conference records.
Harris and Williams, meanwhile, guided Wingate to a share of the SAC regular-season crown and the SAC Championship title last weekend. Harris – the SAC Championship MVP – is averaging 17.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, and Williams averages 15.5 points and 7.9 boards per game.
Wingate will be the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Championship southeast regional.
