The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for the 2015 SAC Women's Basketball Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson won its second South Atlantic Conference Regular-Season Championship in three years as it captured the 2014-15 title. With the crown, the Trojans have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Championship, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon. Anderson finished the season with a 20-2 League record.
Wingate claimed the No. 2 seed in the tournament as it finished the Conference season at 19-3. Newberry and Catawba finished with identical 14-8 records in South Atlantic Conference play. The Wolves own the tiebreaker over the Catawba Indians to earn the No. 3 seed, leaving Catawba at No. 4. Carson-Newman picked up the No. 5 seed with its 13-9 record in SAC play. At No. 6 in the seeding was Lincoln Memorial, who turned in an 11-11 record in the League. Lenoir-Rhyne's 10-12 record was good for the No. 7 seed, while Mars Hill rounded out the field at No. 8 with its 9-13 Conference record.
The 2015 South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday, March 4 before moving to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on March 7 and 8. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
