Four South Atlantic Conference Schools Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region Women's Basketball Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference had four schools ranked in the first NCAA Southeast Region Women's Basketball poll of the 2019-20 season, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 19). Anderson earned the No. 4 spot in the poll, followed by Carson-Newman at No. 5, Catawba at No. 6 and Tusculum came in at No. 7.
In addition to the four SAC schools ranked in this week's poll, there were also three schools from both the Peach Belt and from Conference Carolinas.
The Anderson Trojans earned the No. 4 spot in the ranking with a record of 20-4 overall. The Trojans are currently leading the SAC teams in the conference standings.
Carson-Newman and Catawba have identical conference records of 14-4 this season so far. The Catawba Indians hold a 19-4 record overall while the Eagles are 18-6 overall.
Tusculum enters the ranking with an overall record of 18-6, tying with Carson-Newman.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
