Trojans Prevail in Instant Classic Versus Catawba, Winning in Overtime to Advance to Pilot Flying J SAC Finals; 75-71
Greenville, S.C – Top-seeded Anderson University women's basketball team overcame a three-point deficit with less than 30 seconds left to play forcing overtime and eventually defeating the Indians, 75-71, on Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena.
With the victory, the Black and Gold move to 26-4 overall and Catawba (23-6) awaits its postseason fate. FULL RECAP
Strong Second Half Propels Tusculum Past Carson-Newman
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The No. 3 seed Tusculum Pioneers used 50 second half points and a SAC Tournament record 15 three-pointers to defeat the No. 2 seed Carson-Newman Eagles 81-73 in the semifinals of the SAC Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday (March 8).
Leading the way for Tusculum was Kasey Johnson with 24 points, including six three-pointers. She also hauled in six rebounds. Mya Belton added 14 points, 12 of which came from long range, while Maddie Sutton added 13 points and Mia Long had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Carson-Newman's Kayla Marosites led the Eagles with 23 points and seven boards, while Tori Griffin scored 14 points off the bench. Qui Hines and Harli Smith each added 10 points apiece for the Eagles as well.
