UVA Wise's Johnson Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) –The South Atlantic Conference announced the AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played in the eighth week of the 2020-21 season. UVA Wise's Kalee Johnson earns this week's Player of the Week honor.
A senior forward, Johnson, helped lead the Cavaliers to a 2-0 conference record this past week. She picked up 17 points, six rebounds and two blocks versus Lenoir-Rhyne, while also garnering 25 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and four steals in their win over Newberry. Johnson averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists 2.5 steals and two blocks per game on the week. Overall, the Elizabethton, Tenn., native averaged 37.5 percent from the floor, while also going 15-for-20 from the line. This is Johnson's first Player of the Week honor this season. In addition, the Cavaliers have gone on a six-game win streak trailing closely behind Tusculum's nine-game win streak.
