Four SAC Women's Basketball Teams Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference had four schools ranked in the NCAA Southeast Region Women's Basketball poll released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Mar. 3). Carson-Newman, Catawba, Tusculum, and UVA Wise are all under consideration for this year's NCAA Southeast Region Championship.
In addition to the four SAC schools ranked in this week's poll, there are three Conference Carolinas schools and a SIAC school under consideration: Barton, Belmont Abbey, Emmanuel, and Tuskegee Emmanuel.
The eight teams currently under consideration were not put in any rank order at this time due to the inconsistent number of games played by each team due to COVID-19. The teams will not be put in rank order until the week before the NCAA Southeast Regional, which will be held at Carson-Newman, March 12-15.
Carson-Newman has a 15-2 record, Catawba is 9-2, Tusculum is 15-3, and UVA Wise is 15-4.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
