Catawba's Thorne Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba guard Lyrik Thorne has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week twelve of the 2022-23 season, the Conference announced today. 

Thorne, a senior from High Point, N.C., helped lead Catawba to another two-win week. On Wednesday night at Elizabeth City, she had 13 points, four assists and four steals in a convincing victory. Back in conference play Saturday versus Carson-Newman, Thorne knocked down 7 of the team's 14 three pointers in the win. She finished with 29 points and four assists and was 7-13 behind the arc.
