Three SAC Women's Golf Teams, 14 Individuals Ranked Nationally in Golfstat Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The NCAA Division II Golfstat women's golf rankings were released on Tuesday, March 26. Three SAC teams are among the top-25 in the nation: Anderson at No. 22, Wingate at No. 24, and Carson-Newman rounding it out at No. 25.
The Trojans finished fourth at their last tournament before the SAC Championship, the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic, firing off scores of 303, 298, and 307 at the par-72 course. Senior Tiffany Elam and junior Kate Hill paced the Anderson team at 9-over par to tie for ninth at the event. The pair is ranked No. 73 and No. 109, respectively, across Division II. Teammate Victoria Hall is ranked No. 131 on the top-150 list.
The Bulldogs competed at the same event and finished is second (301-292-306=899) behind the hosting UNC Pembroke, capturing their best 54-hole mark in program history. Junior Warissa "Mind" Puangcharoen, the No. 16 ranked golfer, led Wingate with a 6-over to finish in a tie for fifth at the tournament. Fellow Bulldog Laura Nunez Rodriguez is currently within the top-150 at No. 145.
The Eagles sandwiched themselves between the other two nationally-ranked SAC schools, finishing the tournament in third (299-292-314=905), to card their best 54-hole score in program history. No. 123-ranked Maeve Cummins claimed a tie for fifth with a +6 effort.
The remaining ranking SAC women's golfers include Lincoln Memorial's Lise Malherbe (No. 31), Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell (No. 68) and Megan Robb (No. 142), Catawba's Kaley Barts, Tusculum's Katie Tomassoni (No. 128), Coker's Alyssa Campbell (No. 143), and Newberry's Nabila Inak (No. 146) and Taylor Lance (No. 150).
