Lenoir-Rhyne Leads After Round One of SAC Women's Golf Championship

HICKORY, N.C. – The South Atlantic Conference began its three-day Championship Tournament with Lenoir-Rhyne University playing host at the Lake Hickory Country Club on Sunday. It is the host school, Lenoir-Rhyne who holds the one-stroke lead and shooting a 300 in the first 18 holes.
Lenoir-Rhyne is just one ahead of the Wingate Bulldogs. Coker is nine strokes behind the Bulldogs with a 310, while followed closely in a tie for fourth are Anderson and Carson-Newman who are knotted at 311.
Individually, Wingate's Diana McDonald holds the top spot, sitting at an even 72 in the first round. Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell has a hold on the number two spot with a 73. There is a five-way tie for third place, consisting of Catawba's Sandra Brink, Tusculum's Katie Tomassoni, Wingate's Warissa Puangcharoen and rounding out the list is the pair of Bears Ainee O'Connor and Megan Robb.
The second round of the SAC Championship will continue with 18 scheduled on Monday. Due to the threat of inclement weather, conference officials have announced a double-tee start time of 8 a.m.
