Wingate Wins Stroke Play by 20 Shots; Anderson Also Advances to Match Play
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. -- The Wingate Bulldogs women's golf team proved they are the number one team in the nation by winning stroke play by 20 shots over second-place Dallas Baptist after 54 holes to advance to match play. The Bulldogs entered the day with a one shot lead and posted a +1 on the day, 12 shots better than any team in round three.
The Anderson Trojans also advanced to match play by finishing fifth after stroke play. The Trojans carded a +53 to advance.
Wingate's Amely Bochaton was the medalist, winning by 13 shots over St. Mary's (TX) Taylor Wilczek. Bochaton shot a -4 to total a -13 after 54 holes.
Fellow Bulldogs Jackie Gonzalez Howard and Lauren Sutcliffe finished in a 10th place tie with a +8.
Anderson was lied by Olivia Roberts' +9 to place her in a tie for 15th.
LMU's Ruby McLellan qualified as an individual in the tournament and finished 63rd with a +22.
Wingate and Anderson will now move on to match play which tees off tomorrow.
