Queens will be the top seed in the first-ever Food Lion SAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship after completing an undefeated conference regular-season on Saturday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Queens will be the top seed in the first-ever Food Lion SAC Women's Lacrosse Championship after completing an undefeated conference regular-season on Saturday.
Queens went 6-0 in SAC matches this season, outscoring its opponents 100-32. The Royals enter the postseason 11-4 overall, and were ranked 12th in the latest national rankings. Attacker Jena Ready leads the team with 47 goals.
Queens' SAC Championship semifinal round opponent will be fourth-seeded Catawba, which fell to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday to finish 3-3 in the SAC and 7-8 overall.
The second SAC Championship semifinal will pit No. 2 seed Lenoir-Rhyne against No. 3 seed Newberry. L-R lost just once in the conference and is 10-7 overall, while Newberry went 4-2 in the league and 6-10 overall.
The women's semifinal round will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Queens Sports Complex in Charlotte, N.C. Queens will take on Catawba in the first game, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne versus Newberry. The title match will then take place next Saturday afternoon immediately following the men's final, which starts at 2 p.m.
