The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the sixth week of the 2021 season. Wingate forward McKenna DeLong was named the offensive player of the week, while Catawba goalkeeper Sierra Davis was named defensive player of the week.
DeLong, a senior from Reading, Pa., led the Bulldogs to a pair of victories last week over Francis Marion (7-0) and Lincoln Memorial (3-2). She started the week with a pair of goals and two assists against Francis Marion. She then closed out the week with an assist on the game-winning goal against Lincoln Memorial. For the week she had two goals and three assists for seven points.
Davis, a junior from Cornelius, N.C., led the No. 14 Catawba Indians to two SAC shutout wins, as they defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (2-0) and Limestone (1-0). Davis has not allowed a goal in 654 minutes of action, and she now has seven shutouts on the year. She made six saves in the win over Lenoir-Rhyne and made one stop in Catawba's victory against Limestone. For the week she made seven saves in 180 minutes of play.
