The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the seventh week of the 2021 season. Lenoir-Rhyne midfielder Leonie Proessl was named the offensive player of the week, while Wingate goalkeeper Katrine Thisgaard was named defensive player of the week.
Proessl, a freshman from Cologne, Germany, led the Bears to two conference road wins last week over Mars Hill (5-0) and Tusculum (5-1). She scored two goals in each game, while adding an assist against Tusculum to finish the week with nine points.
Thisgaard, a sophomore from Engesvang, Denmark, earned a pair of shutout victories in goal for the Bulldogs last week over Coker (7-0) and Anderson (4-0). She made one save against Coker and came up with four saves versus Anderson. For the week she had five saves in 180 minutes of action.
