The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the eighth week of the 2021 season. Carson-Newman midfielder Sydnee Duncan was named the offensive player of the week, while Queens goalkeeper Erica Turner was named defensive player of the week.
Duncan, a freshman from Athens, Tenn., led the Eagles to a 9-0 win over Coker last week. She scored three goals for six points. The hat trick was the first by a Carson-Newman player since 2018 and the first player to record six points in a game since 2018.
Turner, a junior from Dublin, Ireland, help guide the Royals to a 1-0-1 record, including a 1-1 tie with No. 7 Catawba. She made five saves and allowed just one goal on penalty kick versus Catawba. Turner then record six saves and earned a shutout in the Royals' 3-0 win over Limestone.
