The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the tenth week of the 2021 season. Lenoir-Rhyne forward Kara Gavaghan was named the offensive player of the week, while Catawba defender Katie Beck was named defensive player of the week.
Gavaghan, a sophomore from La Crosse, Wisc., scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the Bears' 3-2 win over Carson-Newman in the regular season finale last week.
Beck, a junior from Clermont, Fla., led the Catawba Indians to a 2-0 win over Newberry last week. She anchored a defense that kept Newberry scoreless, while also scoring the game-winning goal for the Catawba Indians.
