Four Women's Soccer Programs in Southeast Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- The NCAA announced the second round of Regional Rankings for women's soccer this afternoon. This is the first round of numerical rankings as last week listed the teams alphabetically.
The conference is led by Lenoir-Rhyne who come in at No. 2 in the rankings. The Bears sport a 10-1-4 overall record and battle Catawba tonight with the winner earning a SAC Regular Season title.
Catawba is one spot behind LR at No. 3 in the region with an identical 10-1-4 mark and can spoil LR's home field advantage with a clinching win this evening.
Wingate sits at No. 5 in the poll and can swipe the Regular Season title this evening. Wingate sits one point behind LR and Catawba in the standings and can claim the championship with a win and an LR/Catawba tie. Wingate is 10-2-3 overall.
Finally, Lincoln Memorial is at No. 8 in the region with a 7-4-3 overall mark. The eighth spot is crucial as the top 8 make the tournament from the region.
The regional rankings are what the NCAA uses to select the NCAA Tournament field. The women's soccer regional rankings will be announced weekly on Wednesday afternoon.
